A new chapter, travel by “Autostop”

So here we are. Walking, with backpacks, instead of (what I remember as cruising mostly downhill) on our bicycles for the past 6 months 😀 A new episode. Backpacking and hitchhiking, plan for the day: 324km  – insane distances from what we’re used to 🙂 With the help of 4 drivers and a truck (whose driver shared wifi with us!) we made it to the border. Well almost, as the truck had to queue for 5km so we walked the rest. The turkish truck drivers enjoyed tea and dinner on the highway and invited us to join. Amazing hospitality and we haven’t crossed the border yet! It was in big construction and took us some time to get past all the checkpoints (and the duty free mall in between), but then we emerged on the other side. Hoş geldiniz! And we’re certainly happy to be here! One last truck for the few kilometres to Edirne and a minibus (thank god we carried 3 turkish lira change since Prague!) and we arrived downtown to meet our couchsurfing host Ertunç with friends. Streets are bustling and lively, people are out from early till late. We love it 🙂
